DUSHANBE, May 20, 2016, Asia-Plus -- Police in Dushanbe have burned more than 1,500 kilograms of narcotics.
The Interior Ministry’s website reports 1,516 kilograms of narcotics were burned in Dushanbe on May 19. A totaled reportedly included 125 kilograms of heroin, 373 kilograms of raw opium, 565 kilograms of hashish, 385 kilograms of cannabis, and 159 hemp seedlings.
According to the website, the drugs have been confiscated over the past three months.
Meanwhile, an Afghan national was detained with a large amount of drugs in the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region on the same day. Several packages of narcotic drug that tested positive to hashish weighing nearly 20 kilograms were confiscated from him.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the alleged drug trafficker and an investigation is under way.
