Commanders of the border troops from Russia and Central Asia’s nations will meet in the Uzbek city of Termez for the 5th regional session from March 10-12, a source within the Tajik power-wielding authorities told Asia-Plus in an interview.

Tajikistan will be represented by Colonel-General Rajabali Rahmonali, the Frist Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for National Security also Commander of the Border Troops of the country.

The meeting participants are expected to discuss the current situation along CIS’s border with Afghanistan.  

The meeting participants will include border troops’ commanders from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan as well as senior representatives of the Council of Border Troops Commanders of the CIS member nations.  

Senior representatives of the Afghan Border Police (ABP) have reportedly been invited to attend the session as observers.  

The session is expected to focus on features and trends f development of the situation along Central Asia’s border with Afghanistan.  The session participants will also develop joint measures to improve the efficiency of providing border security on the Central Asian directions, the source said.  

While in Termez, Rajabali Rahmonali is expected to hold a number of bilateral meetings.
