KULOB, March 7, 2011, Asia-Plus -- Entrepreneurs from Hamadoni district have collected 4,000 U.S. dollars to help combat tuberculosis diseases in the Chubek Jamoat (community), Mirzoali Miraliyev, deputy head of the Khatlon health directorate in charge for the Kulob region, told Asia-Plus Monday afternoon.
According to him, the entrepreneurs have collected money in response to an appeal by local rural hospital.
“Hamadoni along with Vose and Kulob districts is one of the most tuberculosis-prone areas in the country and local medical facilities do not have enough funds to solve all the TB treatment problems on their own,” said Miraliyev, “We have held a number of meetings with residents of the jamoat and people have responded to our appeal.”
The collected funds have been used for repairing the mobile photofluorography unit as well as purchasing enough X-ray films, necessary reagents and medicines, the Khatlon health official said, noting that they decided to hold similar meetings in all the ten districts of the Kulob region.
