KULOB, April 2, 2013, Asia-Plus  -- The Kulob authorities have temporarily shut down two mosques in the city of Kulob and one madrassah in the Khovaling district.

Sharif Abdulhomidov, the head of the Kulob department on religious affairs, says the facilities have been temporarily shut down for the failure to reregister with the Kulob department on religious affairs in proper time.

We will recall that the March 2009 Law on Religion required all registered religious organizations to reregister with the government by January 1, 2010.

“Unscheduled holidays have been given to 94 students from the Khovaling madrassah,” Abdulhomidov said.

“Today, I am going to Khovaling and if the madrassah’s documentations have been put in order the madrassah will be reopened,” Abdulhomidov added.
