DUSHANBE, July 31, 2013, Asia-Plus -- To-date, nearly 10 million mobile phone subscribers have been registered in Tajikistan, which has the population of 8 million people, the deputy chairperson of the Communications Service under the Government of Tajikistan, Ms Tatiana Kholmurodova, announced at a news conference in Dushanbe on July 31.
The number of fixed-line subscribers in Tajikistan has reached more than 360,000 people, Ms. Kholmurodova noted.
According to the Tajik communications service agency, six mobile phone operators now function in Tajikistan.
A total of more than 1.064 billion somoni in services have been rendered by the communications service companies to the population over the first six months of this year, which is 7.8 percent more than in the same period last year. Mobile phone operators reportedly accounted for 95 percent of the overall volume of communications services rendered over the report period.
