DUSHANBE, October 30, 2013, Asia-Plus -- Radio Asia-Plus now can be picked up in the northern Sughd province as well.

A special action dedicated to this event is being carried out in Khujand, the capital of Sughd province today.

We will recall that Radio Asia-plus began test broadcasting in northern Tajikistan on August 14 this year.

Radio Asia-Plus now can be picked up in Khujand, Zafarobod, Chkalovsk and Bobojonghafurov.  It has become possible due to technical support of Babilon-T Company.

Potential audience of Radio Asia-Plus in northern Tajikistan numbers some 600,000 people.  Radio Asia-Plus has some one million listeners in Dushanbe and districts subordinate to the center and up to 600,000 listeners in Qurghon Teppa, the capital of the Khatlon province and nearby districts, including Sarband, Vakhsh, Rumi, and Bokhtar.

Radio Asia-Plus went on the air in the Khatlon province in April 2012.

Radio Asia-Plus got a license to broadcast its programs to the whole republic and an Internet broadcast license in October 2011.

The radio station work’s format has remained the same – the radio runs news bulletins in Tajik and Russian alternately on the hour, and plays music from all over the world.

Radio Asia-Plus became the first private radio station to go on the air in Dushanbe on September 9, 2002, after waiting for four years for a frequency license.
