DUSHANBE, October 31, 2013, Asia-Plus -- Diasporas of Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan asked in Russia have asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to resolve the situation with migrants in Moscow.
CA-News reports that according to interregional social movement of labor migrants of Kyrgyzstan, the decision was made during a roundtable held in Moscow, which was attended by representatives of Russian government agencies, NGOs, representatives of Diasporas, diplomatic missions, international organizations and experts.
The meeting participants reportedly decided to combine efforts of ethnic communities to help Russian state authorities to resolve the situation.
Representatives of Russia’s Federal Migration Service (FMS)’s office in Moscow agreed that the system of immigration law must be improved and added that they are only the executive body.
According to lawyer of migrant workers, Valentina Chupik, this situation has resulted from negligence of the Federal Migration Service. She cited examples of illegal deportation of migrants. The FMS should carefully monitor reasons for deportation of migrants, she said.
For his part, head of the Society of Friendship with Kyrgyzstan, Boris Silayev, stressed that migrants are the main labor force in Russia. He believes that Russian government is obliged to create necessary conditions for migrant workers, as of today Russia needs 25 million workers.
