DUSHANBE, December 13, 2013, Asia-Plus -- The Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) Commission on the Environment met today to discuss the environmental problems existing in the country.
Muhammadato Sultonov, a spokesman for the Majlisi Namoyandagon, says the meeting, in particular, discussed participation of civil society in tackling the environmental problems and the bills on the environmental strategy and impact on the environment.
According to him, the meeting participants included deputies of the lower house of the parliament and representatives of relevant ministries and agencies.
Speaking at the meeting, the head of the Commission on the Environment, Muhammadsharif Haqdodov, drew attention of those present to the necessity of raising the environmental awareness of the population and adopting the necessary environmental protection laws, Sultonov said.
