DUSHANBE, July 1, 2014, Asia-Plus – Tajik government has endorsed the program for development of private kindergartens and schools in the country designed for 2014-2020.

The program reportedly aims to create favorable conditions for practical partnership between the public and private sectors to improve children’s access to high-quality pre-school and secondary education.

The document, in particular, provides for allotment of lands for development of private preschool and secondary education facilities in Tajikistan on easy terms.

According to the program, 47 private secondary education facilities, including grammar schools having 10,445 students, 7 lyceums (2,965 students) and 14 high schools (4,890 students), functioned in the country in 2011-2012.

In 2012-2013, the number of private educational facilities reportedly increased to 52, including 23 grammar schools (2,797 students), 11 lyceums (5,564 students) and 18 high schools (5,674 students).

Despite increase in the number of private educational facilities in the country, contribution of them is inconsiderable and they cover only 1 percent of the overall number of schools students in the country, the program says.
