The government of Uzbekistan will send nearly 60 tons of humanitarian aid to Tajikistan, according to the Uzbek MFA’s website.
The assistance including food products, medicines, warm clothes, building materials, coals and other basic necessities will be distributed among residents of regions affected by snow-slides over the past two months.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Uzbekistan is ordered to provide coordination of works on formation, shipment and handover of humanitarian aid to the Tajik side, the website said.
Mountains cover 93 percent of Tajikistan, and avalanches and mudslides kill dozens of people every year.
Tajikistan has appealed to diplomatic missions and international organizations accredited to Tajikistan for help in mitigating effects of recent natural disasters.
