JOB VACANCY (Part time contract)

The Swiss Foundation for Mine Action (FSD) is a Swiss based, non-governmental organisation specializing on Demonstration of non-thermal treatment of wastes containing dichlorodiphenyl-trichloroethane (DDT) in countries of Central Asia as well as in the removal of landmines and unexploded ordnance, so that people can build a better future, is implementing a humanitarian project in Tajikistan and it is looking for following specialist to be recruited:

Local Legal expert

Background

The local legal expert will work within a small team to develop and strengethen Tajikstan’s Hazardous waste management policies and framework legislation, including identifying opportunities to set appropriate emission limits for pollution from hazardous waste management activities. The results of this work will be presented to relevant governmental experts as recommendations for national legislation.

Key competencies:

  1. Extensive experience (5+ years)  as a qualified lawyer in Tajikistan.
  2. Demonstrated knowledge of Tajikistan’s existing policy and legal frameworks on hazardous wastes
  3. Experience in drafting specialist legislation at the national and regional level.
  4. Experience working with international and national NGOs and government departments.
  5. Fluency in Tajik, Russian and English.

Job outline:

The job is offered on a part time basis (exact hours and contitions tbc).  The Local legal expert will interact with FSD staff and external contractors on a regular basis, including the International legal expert.
