This year we are celebrating with great pride and honor three decades of cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Over these extraordinary years, this partnership has become a beacon of development, cooperation and mutual understanding.

Since the beginning of cooperation between Tajikistan and JICA in 1993, we have witnessed the power of cooperation in promoting development, promoting innovation and uplifting communities. With a shared commitment to sustainable growth, poverty reduction and social development, this partnership has left an indelible mark on both countries.

The path of the last 30 years has been marked by improvements in several sectors, such as infrastructure, water supply, energy, small business development, healthcare, social security, agriculture and support for government employees.

Cooperation between Tajikistan and JICA consistently demonstrates the potential of international cooperation in solving pressing problems.

In particular, the total number of participants in the joint knowledge creation programs (training courses) of JICA this year exceeded 2,550 people.

It should be noted that 30 years ago JICA started technical cooperation with Tajikistan, inviting Tajik officials to gain knowledge and experience in the field of management and development of macroeconomics.

Since the establishment of the JICA office in Tajikistan in 2006, various grant assistance and technical cooperation projects have been implemented more dynamically, aimed at improving the standard of living of the Tajik people.

It is worth noting that to date, the total investment portfolio of JICA in Tajikistan in all sectors includes 49 projects worth more than 427.44 million US dollars (97.2 million US dollars of technical cooperation and 330.2 million US dollars of grant assistance; both are on a grant basis), including 12 ongoing projects.

Reflecting on this significant anniversary, we recognize the dedication of countless people who have worked tirelessly to strengthen ties between our two countries. Their efforts have not only advanced bilateral relations, but also contributed to the achievement of global goals of peace, prosperity and sustainable development.

Looking to the future, we are encouraged by the opportunities that the next stage of our partnership opens up. Having a common vision of a bright future, we are confident that the next 30 years will bring even greater achievements and closer ties.
