In 2024, tax revenues from migrant workers employed under patent-based work permits in Russia increased by more than 16%, Irina Volk, a spokesperson for the Interior Ministry of the Russian Federation, says.
"The amount of tax revenue from the earnings of foreign citizens working under patents has increased by 16.1%, exceeding 123 billion rubles," Volk wrote on her Telegram channel.
She also reported that the number of official work permits issued to foreign nationals in 2023 surpassed 2 million.
"The number of employer notifications to law enforcement agencies regarding employment contracts with foreign workers increased by one-third, reaching 3 million," Ms. Volk added.
Crime rate among migrant workers declines
According to Russian Interior Ministry’s data, in 2024, the number of crimes committed by migrant workers decreased by 0.9%.
- Robberies committed by foreign workers dropped by 27%.
- Theft cases decreased by 9.2%.
- Drug-related crimes fell by 12.3%.
- Cases of intentional grievous bodily harm declined by 12.5%.
- Homicides and attempted murders were 6.7% lower compared to the previous year.
These statistics indicate a positive trend in crime reduction among labor migrants in Russia.
