More than 1,300 parents in Tajikistan's capital have been held administratively accountable this year for failing to properly educate and supervise their children.

According to the Dushanbe Police Directorate, 1,312 administrative protocols have been filed under Article 90 of Tajikistan’s Administrative Code, which addresses parental neglect in the upbringing and education of minors.

Authorities noted a concerning rise in juvenile offenses, underscoring the urgent need for greater parental involvement and stronger cooperation with educational institutions to address this trend.

In the wake of a recent juvenial brawl that resulted in a fatality, Deputy Chief of Dushanbe Police, Colonel Faizali Saydalizoda, held an outreach meeting with parents and students in the city’s Firdavsi district. The discussion focused on the root causes of youth violence, the influence of online content, and the critical importance of parental oversight—particularly regarding children’s activity on social media.

Police officials emphasized that a stable home environment and close coordination with schools are essential in preventing antisocial behavior among teenagers.

In Firdavsi district, a broader community meeting was also held with participation from law enforcement, prosecutors, education officials, and juvenile affairs representatives. Parents from over 15 local schools attended the session, where the fatal group altercation among teenagers was examined in detail.

Law enforcement expressed concern that, despite repeated warnings, many parents continue to show indifference toward their children’s behavior. Teenagers are often found on the streets late at night, frequenting internet cafes, smoking hookah, and engaging in other antisocial activities—factors that increase their risk of becoming involved in crime.

The Dushanbe Police strongly urge all parents and guardians to intensify supervision of minors, actively participate in their moral and social development, and take proactive measures to prevent situations that could lead to tragic outcomes.
