President Emomali Rahmon has ordered the chief of the Dushane-1 Customs Terminal, Shahboz Rajabzoda, to write a letter of resignation and reimburse money he transferred abroad.

During a meeting with senior representatives of fiscal agencies (Customs Service and Tax Committee) and banks that took place in Dushanbe on May 10, President Emomali sharply criticized the chief of the Dushane-1 Customs Terminal, Shahboz Rajabzoda.

The meeting was broadcast by Tajik national TV channels.  Addressing the meeting, Rahmon, in particular, noted that Rajabzoda did not have the higher education because he had been expelled from university because of academic underachievement.

“Wherever you worked you were fired from everywhere and I do not know how the Customs Services hired you,” said the president.

Rahmon ordered Rajabzoda to write a letter of resignation and reimburse money he transferred abroad.  “I take into consideration your youth; otherwise, you would be jailed for at least 15 years,” the president said.

“No one instruction will be left unimplemented,” Rahmon stated.

The meeting has sparked animated discussions in social networking media.  Facebook users have been outraged at the fact that Rajabzoda was just fired and practically remained unpunished.

Meanwhile, some media outlets report that Shahboz’s father Muzaffar Rajabov is allegedly the physician to the president and his family.

Asia-Plus specifies that Muzaffar Rajabov is the head physician of the Republican Cardiology Center.  He refrained from commenting on what had happened to his son.  He just told Asia-Plus by phone, “I do not know his deal.”
