DUSHANBE, February 1, Asia-Plus -- A season of a new stylish kind of skiing  called “heli-ski” (helicopter-skiing  - when skier is lifted to the mountain by helicopter and from the mountain, he skies by himself) has been canceled in Tajikistan this year.

Mr. Rano Sobirova, head of the mountaineering center “Alp-Mashkov”, has told Asia-Plus that it was canceled mostly because of expensiveness of renting helicopter.  “Renting helicopter for one hour in Tajikistan costs 1,600 U.S. dollars, while in neighboring Uzbekistan , this service is offered at the rate of US$1,300 per hour,” Rano Sobirova said.

We will recall that last year, two international teams of heli-skiers arrived in Tajikistan for training.  Last year, renting helicopter for one hour cost US$1,400.
