The International Football Federation (FIFA) has published a new ranking of women's national teams in the world. The Tajikistan women's national football team took the 158th place (950.20 points), dropping three places. A total of 196 national teams are represented in the ranking, according to the organization.
There has been a change of leader at the top of the ranking. The Spanish national team, which recently reached the finals of the European Championship, displaced the United States from first place, which is now second.
Sweden, England and Germany also entered the top 5. France, Brazil, Japan, Canada and North Korea complete the top ten. The next rating update will take place on September 11, 2025.
FIFA women's national team ranking, top 10: Spain – 2066.79 points; USA – 2065.06; Sweden – 2025.26; England – 2022.64; Germany – 2011.56; France – 1988.68; Brazil – 1976.30; Japan – 1971.05; Canada – 1967.83; North Korea – 1944.22.
The top 10 Asian countries are as follows: Japan (8th in the world), North Korea (10th), Australia (15th), China (16th), South Korea (21st), Vietnam (37th), Philippines (39th), Chinese Taipei (42nd), Uzbekistan (52nd), Thailand (53).
Ranking of Central Asian women's national teams: Uzbekistan – 1487.67 points (52nd place), Kazakhstan – 1175.94 points (108), Turkmenistan – 1063.88 points (138), Kyrgyzstan – 1062.41 points (139), Tajikistan – 950.20 points (158).
Thus, Tajikistan's closest neighbors occupy higher positions. The situation in Asia highlights that the fight for a place in the middle of the continental ranking is intense. Many teams, including India (+39.78 points) and Bangladesh (+80.51), have shown notable progress.
Against this background, Tajikistan's decline looks like an alarming signal. The main factor of the decline is the results of recent matches. In recent meetings, the women's national team of Tajikistan has lost to its rivals, which led to a loss of 26.73 rating points.
The lack of wins at the official level is reflected in the position of the team in the table. In addition, the national team's position is affected by the lack of international playing practice. Unlike competitors who hold regular training camps and friendly matches with strong rivals, Tajikistan has limited itself to mandatory tournaments in recent months.
The current 158th place is an alarming result, but it can be fixed. The Tajikistan women's national team has the potential to rise higher, but this requires a systematic approach: from working with the coaching staff to infrastructure development.
