DUSHANBE, February 17, Asia-Plus -- In Dushanbe, buses daily convey more than 120 passengers and fixed-route taxies daily convey some 140,000 passengers, Saydamir Makhsumov, director general of “Dushanbegorpastrans” (passenger transport service), remarked at a news conference Thursday February 16.
According to him, 107 state-owned and more than 1,800 private fixed-route taxies daily work in the Tajik capital. Besides, some 180 buses and 62 trolleybuses daily run in Dushanbe, Makhsumov said.
To completely resolve the public transport problem Dushanbe needs totaling 650 buses and 250 trolleybuses, head of the Dushanbe passenger transport service said, adding that the last bulk (50 unit) of trolleybuses purchased in the Russian Federation will have arrived in Dushanbe by the end of the first quarter of 2006.
