DUSHANBE, May 2, Asia-Plus -- By the “Barqi Tojik” company head’s resolution of April 26 electricity rationing has been lifted in Tajikistan.
Chairman of Barqi Tojik holding company Sharifkhon Samiyev told journalists this on April 28. “Last year, the electricity rationing in Tajikistan was lifted in early April while this year it was lifted in late April,” Samiyev said, noting that was connected with decline in the water level in the reservoir of the Norak hydropower plant.
The electricity rationing is usually introduced in Tajikistan in October and it is effective immediately and lasting through April for the purpose of curbing the country’s rising electricity consumption. This move also stems from the decline in the water level in the country’s reservoirs powering the main power plants.
