A regular sitting of the second session of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) of the third convocation presided over by its chairman Saydullo Khairulloyev was held on June 14.
Deputy Foreign Minister, Abdullo Yuldoshev, presenting the documents noted that they were connected with Uzbekistan’s admittance to the Community on January 26 this year. He also reminded that since a number of votes of member nations of the organizations depended on share contributions the protocol on amendments to the treaty on the establishment of the Community changed the rates. “Tajikistan contribution to the EAEC budget now amounts to 7.5 percent,” Mr. Yuldoshev said, noting that Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan had already ratified the protocol changes and addenda made to the treaty on the establishment of the EAEC.
Speaking to journalists after the sitting, Abdullo Yuldoshev expressed hope that after joining the Community Uzbekistan would cancel a visa regime imposed on Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
Member of the Majlisi Namoyandagon Committee on Science, Education, Culture and Youth Policy, Muhiddin Kabiri, told journalists following the sitting that Uzbekistan was scarcely ready for lifting visa regime. “Although Uzbek authorities have announced the possibility of lifting visa regime imposed on the member nations of the Community, concrete dates have yet been fixed,” said Mr. Kabiri, “We all know well under what conditions Uzbekistan was obliged to join the EAEC.”
The session also ratified a resolution of the council of the CIS heads of state on a concept of concerted border policy.
