DUSAHNBE, August 3, Asia-Plus - Drivers of some 800 minivans running on liquefied or natural gas have installed gas equipment under the bottom or on the roof of their vehicles. 

According to information from the transportation inspectorate of the Ministry of Transport, some 3,000 minivans running on liquefied or natural gas are currently operating in Dushanbe .  

By order of the Ministry of Interior (MoI) gas equipment of vehicles running on liquefied or natural gas should be installed under the bottom or on the roof of the vehicle for the purpose of providing safety of passengers.  

The source says the drivers will be fined from 200 to 600 Somonis for failing to implement this order.  “In southern Tajikistan and districts subordinate to the center, a process of re-equipment of minivans has practically been completed,” said the source, “The key problem remains the Sughd province, where more than 95 percent of minivans run on natural gas.”   

All vehicles running on liquefied or natural gas were supposed to be re-equipped by July 25, according to the Asia-Plus interlocutor.
