DUSHANBE, August 4, Asia-Plus - Rural facilities on providing primary medical aid should be designed and built by criteria corresponding to their functional necessities and meet requirements of patients and personnel, Ms. Mahbuba Sheraliyeva, director of the Community and Basic Health Project Implementation Unit (Project Implementation Unit or PIU), remarked at a ceremony of presentation of the legal document “On Technical Norms Recommended for Construction of Rural Medical Facilities on Providing Primary Medical Aid” in Dushanbe on August 2.   

According to information from the Health Ministry press service, the document has been worked out by experts from the PIU jointly with the Ministry of Health on the basis of reports of interested international consulting firm.  

“The World Bank has awarded grant for carrying out consultation on working out recommendation norms of designing and construction of rural medical facilities,” said the source, “Based on these recommendations, the Ministry of Health has hired international consulting firm through the PIU for carrying out this task.”  The mentioned legal document has been worked out on the basis of the prepared reports, according to the Asia-Plus interlocutor.    

The document contains technical and functional norms, instructions for planning and designing, recommendations on electric power, heating, and water supplies, etc.   

During the document-presentation ceremony it was noted that the medical facilities should be located in the areas that are not prone to disasters, near to other institutional facilities, educational and commercial centers.
