DUSHANBE, August 14, Asia-Plus - Tajikistan comes out for expanding cooperation with Pakistan in addressing modern challenges and threats for providing regional security and stability, a telegram of congratulations sent by Tajik President Emomali Rahmonov to his Pakistani counterpart, President Pervez Musharraf, on occasion of the 59 th anniversary of Pakistan’s Independence says.
According to presidential press service, Emomali Rahmonov notes in his telegram that Tajikistan is satisfied with strengthening of cooperation between the two countries, which meets interests of the peoples of Tajikistan and Pakistan. Rahmonov expressed confidence that friendly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation would develop in future as well.
According to data of the State Committee for Statistics, a two-way trade between Tajikistan and Pakistan in January-June 2006 has valued at US$262,700, which is 69.5 percent fewer compared to the same period of the last year. This consisted of Tajikistan’s exports to Pakistan estimated at US$71,600 and Tajikistan’s imports from Pakistan worth US$191,100.
