DUSHANBE, November 16, Asia-Plus - Districts subordinate to the center (RRP) that have already fulfilled their cotton target are continuing to gather cotton in addition to their obligations.
Saidmurod Bahriddinov, the head of the industrial corps department of the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA), told Asia-Plus that the RRP cotton farmers have yielded more than 48,300 tons of cotton by November 15, which is 103.6 percent of their target determined at 46,700 tons of cotton.
According to him, cotton growers in Khatlon have yielded 255,706 tons of cotton to this day, which is 77.7 percent of the target. They have pledged to gather 329,000 tons of cotton this year.
The northern province of Sughd has pledged to produce 171,300 tons of cotton this year. Sughd has gathered 131,900 tons of cotton by November 15, which is 77 percent of the target.
The republic has yielded 436,400 tons of cotton by November 15, which comprises 79.7 percent of this year’s target determined at 547,000 tons of cotton.
“Khatlon and Sughd will scarcely reach 90 percent of their obligations this year,” Bahriddinov said.
