DUSHANBE, February 15, 2011, Asia-Plus -- In January 2011, Tajikistan produced a total of more than 608 million somoni (equivalent to more than 138 million U.S. dollars) worth of industrial goods, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

Compared to January 2010 the index of the volume of production of industrial goods amounted to 109.2 percent.

Processing industry accounted for 68.1 percent of the overall volume of industrial goods produced last month, enterprises producing and distributing electric power, natural gas and water accounted for 26.1 percent and mining industry accounted for 5.8 percent.  

Of the 78 basic types of industrial products the output of 34 items (43.6 percent) increased, and the output of 26 (33.3 percent) decreased.  18 basic types of industrial products (23.1 percent) were not manufactured.

Enterprises subject to the Ministry of Energy and Industries (MoEI) produced 210 million worth of goods in January, which is 20.2 percent more than in the same period last year.

Cotton-processing enterprises produced 135.3 million somoni worth of output last month, which is 17.1 percent more than in January 2010.

Enterprises that are not subject to a MoEI produced more than 95.6 million somoni worth of goods over the report period, which is 2.2 percent more than in January 2010.
