DUSHANBE, April 15, 2011, Asia-Plus  -- Over the first three months of this year, Tajikistan has produced a total of 1.666 billion somoni (equivalent to some 372 million U.S. dollars) worth of industrial goods, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

Compared to January-March 2010 the index of the volume of production of industrial goods amounted to 105.4 percent.

Processing industry accounted for 65 percent of the overall volume of industrial goods produced over the same three-month period, enterprises producing and distributing electric power, natural gas and water accounted for 26.2 percent and mining industry accounted for 8.1 percent.  

Of the 79 basic types of industrial products the output of 36 items (45.6 percent) increased, and the output of 31 (39.2 percent) decreased.  12 basic types of industrial products (15.2 percent) were not manufactured.

Enterprises subject to the Ministry of Energy and Industries (MoEI) have produced 610.2 million worth of goods in January-March this year, which is 16.8 percent more than in the same period last year.

Cotton-processing enterprises have produced 225.3 million somoni worth of output over the report period, which is 0.2 percent more than in January-March 2010.

Enterprises that are not subject to a MoEI have produced more than 328.1 million somoni worth of goods over the same three-month period, which is 1.6 percent more than in January-March 2010.
