QURGHON TEPPA, September 26, 2012, Asia-Plus  -- Ten cotton-ginning factories have reportedly been shut down in Khatlon province for failure to meet requirements of Tajikistan’s standards.

Ikromiddin Valiyev, the head of the Khatlon Center for Standardization, Metrology, Certification, and Trade Inspection, says their specialists have inspected seventeen cotton ginneries and cotton-receiving centers across the province and serious violations have been revealed at eleven of them.

“These enterprises were receiving cotton without checking its quality,” said Valiyev.  “Violators have been fined a total of 13, 200 somoni and 10 enterprises have been banned to receive cotton until they remove shortcomings revealed in their activities.”
