Representatives of the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park have shared their experience in drafting legislation and creating technoparks with Tajik parliamentarians, the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of Tajikistan (MoINT) says.
A source at a MoINT says Azerbaijani specialists have been invited to Tajikistan for establishment of cooperation in creating technology parks.
On April 5, they reportedly met here with representatives of the MoINT and the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower house of parliament) to discuss the mentioned issues.
Besides, representatives of the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park met with senior representatives of the State Committee on Investment and State-owned Property Management (GosKomInvest). The sides reportedly discussed issues related to providing preferences to industrial enterprises, first of all industrial parks, and attracting domestic and foreign investments.
Recall, the MoINT had earlier announced an intention to create the Information Technology (IT) Park in Dushanbe.
Technology parks (also called science parks or technopoles) are open spaces that serve as business incubators for startups that are affiliated with a university. Ever since the first technology park was created near Stanford University in the 1950s, these spaces have launched countless tech startups all over the world.
Established on May 11, 2012, the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park, located in Sumgayit, 32.5 kilometers from Baku, covers 505.64 hectares. The Sumgait Chemical Industrial Park is dedicated to facilitate development of industrial production, support entrepreneurship in this area, ensure sustainable development of the non-oil sector, and increase the population employment in the production area.
