DUSHANBE, April 9, Asia-Plus -- Resident of Sughd’s Mastchoh district was killed yesterday evening when he was trying to illegally cross the Uzbek-Tajik border.
According to the Sughd police directorate, two persons -- one of them is resident of the Mastchoh district and the other one is Uzbek national -- were trying to illegally cross the border via the border crossing Oybek in the Mastchoh district.
“They ignored order of border guards to stop and warning shot,” said the source, “Border guards shot at trespassers when they were trying to flee.” As a result, one of trespassers got fatal wound and died on the way to hospital. The other trespasser was detained.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted and an investigation is under way. .
