KULOB, July 30, 2008, Asia-Plus -- The police department in Khatlon’s Temourmalik district has reported that local resident, whose name is not disclosed in interest of his family, committed suicide by self-hanging in the territory of the police department yesterday evening. He was detained on suspicion of having been stolen private cattle.
Alfatoh Roziqov, the deputy Khatlon prosecutor in charge of the Kulob region, told Asia-Plus today that the detainee had confessed to stealing four cows. “According to the Temourmalik police, he made written confession and then asked for going to toilet, which is located in the department’s yard, where he committed suicide by self-hanging,” the prosecutor said.
He added that the Temourmalik prosecutor’s office had instituted criminal proceedings to investigate into the incident.
