DUSHANBE, August 25, 2008, Asia-Plus -- Shohin Najmiddinzoda, an officers with the Sughd customs directorate, has been detained don suspicion of having been involved in bribery, according to the Agency for State Financial Control and Combating Corruption.
The source at the anticorruption agency said that Najmiddinzoda demanded $400 form resident of Khujand for help with issuing documents for taking his property to Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
“Shohin Najmiddinzoda was caught red-handed when he was taking money,” the source said, adding that criminal proceedings had been instituted against the corrupt customs officer under the provisions of Article 319 of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – bribe taking.
