KHUJAND, March 20, 2009, Asia-Plus  -- The trail of seven alleged members of the outlawed religious extremist Hizb ut-Tahrir organization that began in the Khujand city court on March 19 was adjourned until one of the accused feels better.

Judge Iso Tavakkalov, who is taking in the trial, said that he had ordered the adjournment after one of the accused had felt unwell.

According to him, the accused are residents of Khujand and they are charged with organization of criminal grouping, participation in criminal grouping, incitement of national, racial, regional or religious enmity, and call for overthrowing constitutional order in the country.

“The trial will probably resume after the Navrouz holiday,” Tavakkalov said.

According to the Sughd police directorate, 11 members of the outlawed religious extremist Hizb ut-Tahrir organization were detained in northern Tajikistan last year.
