DUSHANBE, July 1, 2011, Asia-Plus -- On Thursday June 30, President Emomali Rahmon received visiting U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) William Brownfield.
According to the presidential press service, the two discussed issues related to cooperation between Tajikistan and the United States in strengthening the Tajik-Afghan border and in combating terrorism, extremism and drug trafficking.
Rahmon and Brownfield declared for expansion of cooperation between Central Asia’s nations and Russia in addressing drug threat emanating from Afghanistan, the source stressed.
They also expressed satisfaction with the fact that due to measures taken by international community drug production has declined in Afghanistan.
