DUSHANBE, October 28, 2011, Asia-Plus – Tajik parliamentary delegation, led by the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) Speaker Shukurjon Zuhurov, visited Belarus on October 25-27, Tajik MFA information department reports.
On October 26, Tajik parliamentarians attended a session of the Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO PA).
The main issue on the agenda was the legislative implementation of the decisions adopted by the CSTO. All in all, the meeting’s agenda included 12 issues. The Council reviewed the results of this year’s work, set plans for the future and discussed issues related to financing of the CSTO PA Council’s activities in 2012.
The Belarusian news agency, BelTA, reported that after the meeting representatives of the parliamentary delegations of the CSTO member states had laid wreaths at the Victory Monument and visited a number of Belarusian military objects.
Meanwhile, Shukurjon Zuhurov held talks with his Belarusian counterpart Vladimir Andreychenko, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus, on the sidelines of the CSTO PA council’s meeting in Minsk. The two reportedly discussed parliamentary cooperation between their countries.
The National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus is the bicameral parliament that governs the Eastern European country of Belarus. The two chambers of the National Assembly are: the Council of the Republic – the upper house; and the House of Representatives – the lower house.
