DUSHANBE, July 11, 2012, Asia-Plus  -- A Tajik delegation, led by Ms. Zarafo Rahmoni, member of the board of the of the Islamic Revival Party of Tajikistan (IRP), is participating in a world Muslim women assembly that open in the Iranian capital Tehran on July 10.

The Tajik delegation members reportedly include female activists of the IRP and the Democratic Party of Tajikistan (DPT).

Iran’s news agency, IRNA, quoted the Adviser to the Iranian President for Women’s Affairs, Ms. Maryam Mojtahedzadeh, as saying that the First Seminar themed “Women and Islamic Awakening” has been set up with an aim of promoting Islamic thoughts in the world.

Talking to IRNA on the sidelines of the assembly, Ms. Mojtahedzadeh, who is also head of Presidential Office’s Center for Women’s Affairs and Family, added that the decision was made following the request of all the participants of the event.

The assembly has reportedly brought together representatives from all Muslim countries to discuss the role of women in various fields.

Mojtahedzadeh also visited an exhibition featuring Iranian women’s achievements in the fields of handicrafts and culture.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad inaugurated the two-day international gathering on women and Islamic awakening Tuesday morning.

1,200 women active in political, cultural and social areas from 81 countries including Tajikistan are participating in the event.

The forum reportedly focuses on six pivotal issues of Islamic thinking, Islamic awakening and revolutionary act, women and Islamic awakening, challenges, threats and guidelines.

It will also hold panels on women and Islamic awakening: achievements and demands, international relations and interactions, the issue of family and capacity building among revolutionary forces, IRNA said.
