A national consultation meeting held in Dushanbe on December 5 in preparation to a new United Nations and Government of Tajikistan Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework 2027–2030. 

The United Nations in Tajikistan and the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade jointly organized a national consultation meeting to inform the development of the new UN and Government of Tajikistan Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) for 2027–2030.

Participants reviewed and discussed the findings of the UN Country Analysis (UNCA), focusing on economic diversification and inclusion, social development, food security and agriculture, environmental sustainability, effective governance, human rights, social cohesion, and inclusion and provided their recommendations.

At the opening, Mr. Victor Olsavszky, UN Resident Coordinator a.i., WHO Representative thanked the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade and all partners for participation in this important meeting to review the UN County Analysis and to discuss critical priorities for the next UNSDCF 2027-2030.

He also noted: “This meeting is a very important milestone in the formulation of a new Republic of Tajikistan-United Nations joint cooperation framework and outlines the key principles and main priorities of cooperation between the UN, the Government of Republic of Tajikistan and all development partners. It reflects the national priorities and the SDGs and pursues people-centered development approach based on Leave No One Behind principle”.

“This consultation takes place at a pivotal moment for Tajikistan’s strategic development. Together with the UN, we have completed the evaluation of the current cooperation framework and the UNCA, while the Government has finalized the Medium-Term Development Programme for 2026–2030. The new UNSDCF 2027–2030 will be fully aligned with these national priorities”, said in his opening remarks Mr. Ashurboy Solehzoda, First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade.

The meeting invited partners to provide their recommendations on the priorities and areas of cooperation with the UN to consider during formulating of the new Cooperation Framework to guide the work of the UN system in Tajikistan for the next four years.
