Tajik president, U.S. Department of State official discuss cooperation issues

, May 8, Asia-Plus - On Monday May 8, President Emomali Rahmonov is meeting in
Dushanbe
with visiting Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Richard A. Boucher, who arrived in
Dushanbe
for a working visit on Sunday, presidential press service reported.
In the course of the talks the two intend to discuss cooperation issues as well as issues related to post-war reconstruction of
Afghanistan
’s economy.
According to information from the Tajik MFA, during stay in Dushanbe Mr. Boucher is also scheduled to meet with Foreign Minister Talbak Nazarov and leaders of political parties of
Tajikistan
.
Richard A. Boucher was sworn in as the Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs on
February 21, 2006
. The Bureau of South Asian Affairs was expanded to include the nations of
Central Asia
shortly before his confirmation. Over the course of his career, Ambassador Boucher served as the Department of State’s Spokesman or Deputy Spokesman under six Secretaries of State and has served as Chief of Mission twice overseas.
