DUSHANBE, March 28, Asia-Plus - Tajik President Emomali Rahmon on March 27 sent a telegram of condolences to his Armenian counterpart, President Robert Kocharyan, over the death of Armenian Prime Minister Andranik Markaryan, presidential press service said.
The telegram, in particular, said that Andranik Markaryan made a significant contribution to strengthening of accord in Armenian society, economic development of his country and won respect as known statesman not only in Armenia but also outside it.
In his telegram, Rahmon also asked to convey his deep condolences to the Armenian people, fiends and family of Markaryan.
Markaryan, aged 56, died Sunday morning of heart attack. He was Armenia''s prime minister from May 2000. In 1997, he was elected chairman of the Republican Party, which came to head the ruling coalition in Armenia in 2003.
