DUSHANBE, April 22, 2011, Asia-Plus -- Officers from the Drug Control Agency (DCA) have seized a large amount of cannabis in Khatlon province.
According to the DCA press center, an operation by drug control officers led to the arrest of a 19-year-old resident of Afghan Kunduz province in Qumsangir district, Khatlon province on April 21.
“Two packages of narcotic drug that tested positive to cannabis weighing more than 45 kilograms were confiscated from,” the source said.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the detained drug smuggler under the provisions of three articles of Tajikistan’s Penal Code: Article 200 – drug trafficking; Article 289 – smuggling; and Article 335 – illegal border crossing.
