KHUJAND, August 30, Asia-Plus -- Resident of the northern Isfara district has been detained on suspicion of being activist of the banned Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (IMU).
According to the Sughd police directorate, resident of the city of Isfara, A.S., 34, was arrested on August 29 on suspicion of being member of IMU.
21 members of IMU and seven members of the extremist religious Hizb ut-Tahrir have reportedly been detained in northern Tajikistan over the first six months of this year.
