The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) has donated two vehicles and 50 modern portable radios to the Emergencies Committee under the Government of Tajikistan.

The handover ceremony of the donation to the Tajik emergency management agency took place on February 5 and it was attended by Mr. Rustam Nazarzoda, Head of the Emergencies Committee, and Ambassador Valeriu Chiveri, Head of the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe.


According to the Emergencies Committee press center, the equipment was handed over within the framework of cooperation with the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe in preventing and mitigating disaster effects and the ADB-sponsored project on supporting Tajikistan’s efforts in disaster.


Speaking at the ceremony, the emergencies Committee head appreciated OSCE’s technical assistance and noted fruitfulness of the cooperation with the OSCE.  

Ambassador Chiveri, for his part, noted that the OSCE will continue cooperating with Tajikistan in preventing and mitigating disasters in the future as well.  

The OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe is involved in a wide range of activities, ranging from arms control, counter-terrorism and border management projects to supporting cross-border markets and free economic zones, human rights, media development, and legal reform initiatives.
